2010 Volvo Sport Cars Air Motion Concept

2010 Volvo Sport Cars Air Motion Concept
At the Los Angeles Design Challenge Competition, Volvo took the open-air experience at a whole new level with its ‘lighter than a Formula 1 racing car’ study project – the Volvo Air Motion. Besides its strong yet ultra-light body structure, the Air Motion concept cars vehicle further adds to its superlatives eco-friendliness, as it is not using a single drop of gasoline while driving wild.
Volvo Air Motion is a sports cars that runs on powerful, yet simple compressed air motors that, unlike an internal combustion engine, cools down under load rather than heat up. The air tank is centrally mounted and receives compressed air through wind-powered air replenishment sites that float 1000ft in the air. Its beautiful Scandinavian body is designed like a clam shell and sculptured from ultra light carbon fiber.

Tipping the scales at under 1,000 pounds (453 kg), the Volvo Air Motion Concept is lighter than a Formula One car and employs a similar open-wheel configuration.

The 2010 Volvo Sport Cars Air Motion Concept was developed around the idea that minimizing the weight and complexity means maximizing driving enjoyment. Volvo built the cars with fewer components and replaced the heavy internal combustion engine with powerful, yet simple, compressed air motors.
To compress the air needed for the centrally mounted air tank, Air Replenishment Sites are used. Powered by air turbines floating 1,000ft in the air they harness the power of the wind and convert it to electricity to provide the compression. The motors cool down with increased load, instead of heating up, which eliminates the need for cooling systems. The chassis, interior and suspension employ an integrated design which brings a notable contribution to the lowered weight.
Aimed at the driving enthusiast, by a company synonymous with safety and environmental care, the Volvo Air Motion Concept demonstrates the beauty and purity of Scandinavian design and delivers a guilt free, raw driving experience.

Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept 1A few days before Christmas, Volvo Cars treating the automotive world to unwrap the beginning of a car that will shine brightly on the streets for years to come.

Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept 2The Volvo S60 Concept gives the car world a glimpse of what the all-new Volvo S60 is going to look like when it arrives in 2010.

Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept 3The all-new S60 will be one of the strongest players in a segment where the competition is razor-sharp,’ says Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell.

Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept 4The coupe-inspired lines that gave the original S60 its characteristic stance are even more pronounced in the next generation.

Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept 5‘The sporty design gives visual promise of an enthusiastic drive and I can assure you here and now that the all-new S60 will live up to that promise. 2009 Volvo S60 Review And Wallpapers

German magazine AutoZeitung has published illustrations of what the next 2009 Volvo S40 could look like. There have been rumors that Volvo may kill the S60 model. If that happens the S40 could move slightly upmarket to fill the void left by the S60. This means the car could grow a few inches also. If this happens, the car could switch platforms from the current Ford Focus to the new Ford Mondeo platform.

These illustrations take many design cues from the XC60 SUV Concept that was recently unveiled. If these illustrations are close, the S40 could become a lot sportier than it is now and could become a great alternative to the 3-Series and new Merc C-Class.

Expect the car to come out either at the end of 2008 or early 2009.

2011 Volvo S60 Sporty Sedan Review And Wallpapers

    2011 Volvo S60 Sporty Sedan
"The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks and drives like no other Volvo before and the car's technology will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel," says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.
The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection - a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.
The all-new Volvo S60 is being unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year. Production of the sporty sedan model will start in early summer 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.
All that changes with the 2011 Volvo S60. For starters, the redesign employs a so-called "Converged C1" architecture blending elements of Ford Motor Company's C1 compact-car platform (think S40 and Mazda 3) and the EUCD structure that serves Volvo's new XC60 crossover SUV. As a result, the next S60 will not only be a clean-sheet affair but dimensionally close to targeted rivals Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
In addition, the 2011 Volvo S60 promises a dramatic visual break from today's car, expected to look much like the swoopy S60 Concept at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. That means a curvy coupe-like profile, ample lower-body sculpting, a bold front end like XC60, a stubby high-set rear deck, and sharply raked front and rear glass. The concept has rear-sliding back doors and no center body pillar, but that's showcar whimsy. The production model will be a normal "post" sedan with 4 regular doors. Likewise, the concept's showy 20-inch wheels should give way to more-sensible shoes, probably standard 18s and optional 19s.
Former design director Steve Mattin finalized the exterior, which means more curves and more flamboyant surfaces than we've come to expect from Volvo: It's more XC60 than S80. and the concept's "four-door coupe" roofline remains.
This is the first Volvo to have dimensions placing it head to head with German premium makers. Previous Volvos were half a class between the Germans: The old S60 was smaller than the 5 Series BMW of its day but bigger than a 3 Series. The new one will tackle the 3 Series and Audi A4 head on. "If we were a market leader, we could do cars outside the established size classes, but at our size we can't," our source said. This applies to pricing, engine for engine, and equipment in addition to size.
A V60 wagon version of the S60 is planned, fitting below the V70.The S60 and V60 will be available globally in four-, five-, and six-cylinder versions, most of them turbos, and diesels for Europe. The U.S. should get the turbo five, the 3.2-liter, 235-horsepower inline-six, and 3.0-liter turbo six making about 280 horsepower. AWD will again be available.

"Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The Volvo S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around," says Stephen Odell.

Safety Over Beauty for Volvo Cars

Volvo cars aren't flashy. Some may even say it's boring. Though the cars aren't as boxy as they used to be, in terms of design, they are not as elegant as the Italians, not as posh as some of the English Cars, not as powerful as the Americans and not as numerous as the Japanese and Korean Cars. But why do you think that after so many years, Volvo car sales have been steady, even in the Bridgend area? Why is it that Volvo car sale have throughout the years maintained its percentages so well? What makes Volvo such a steady brand when it comes to automobiles and not as volatile as its American Counterparts.

Safety. When it comes to the most important aspect of owning an automobile, Volvo leads the way. Volvo cars are safe. After all, they were the company who first came up with seat belts, anti locking brakes, air bags, and the computerized black box that consistently monitors all the internal processes of the car. A Volvo or SUV is top of mind for couples with newborns and have the budget to purchase a car. A Volvo is the car you would want when taking your wife and your children on a road trip. It is the family car when it comes to safety because a Volvo will get you safely from point A to point B.

If you are in Wales, drop by a Volvo dealership in Bridgend and have a go see at the new models available. They have become sleeker and less boxy but still are the safest rides available. Even the classic Volvo Station Wagon series has had a major uplift and now is more SUV looking that wood panel station wagon, supermarket friendly. Their sedans have also a better appeal to the male market and they have been gaining ground on the coupe market as well, adding some zing with the speed but still being safe to drive.

Volvo automobiles have been around for almost 60 years and it has created a niche market for those who prioritized safety over beauty and looks. Volvo has now made headways into the car market by modernizing its design without sacrificing safety. It is still the car of choice for people who like to play it safe when riding a car. Volvo Cars are here to stay, evolve, and gain more ground in its own niche.

At last! Great information about Volvo Car sales Bridgend is available here. If you are in and around Bridgend area, you can contact Bridgend Volvo specialists to assist you in buying or servicing volvo cars.
