eBay Find: Luigi Colani’s 1970 Lamborghini Miura Le Mans Concept Car

Unveiled in 1970, the Lamborghini Miura Le Mans was an out-of-this-world concept car, envisioned by legendary Italian designer, Luigi Colani. According to Colani’s website, the design study was a “two-part hybrid car”, with a Miura chassis rear section and front passenger cabin designed “like the cockpit of a glider”.

It was used as a show car for about four years, when it suddenly went under the radar, only to be discovered 30+ years later by Bad Influence Hot Rods (BIHR), at an estate auction in Indiana. The new owner put it up for sale last October for $79,000, but the reserve wasn’t met. Now it re-surfaced on eBay for a starting bid of $74,999.

Unfortunately, the Miura Le Mans hasn’t aged very well, as the canopy is broken into several pieces and the engine is gone. However, many parts are still there, including the rear and front suspension, golden rear alloys with blue knockoffs, double nose wheels, brakes, calipers and steering.

While BIHR says that this should be an easy car to restore, we’re not that convinced, but whoever decides to pick it up for this kind of money might as well go all the way. Otherwise, it could make for an interesting coffee table…

Say Again? Lamborghini Sesto Elemento up for Sale in Germany...

Unless we're missing something here or we've somehow managed to imitate Marty McFly and travel into the future, Lamborghini's Paris Motor Show Sesto Elemento lightweight supercar remains a one-off concept model - at least officially and for now.

That said, we find it hard to explain the sale of the car by German luxury and supercar dealer, Auto Salon Singen, on Mobile.de. In the description, the alleged seller claims that Lamborghini will build 10 examples of the Sesto Elemento, but they won't be street legal. The price of the... future supercar is set at €2,261,900 including 19% VAT (tax), or just shy of US$3 million. Any explanation(s) are welcome.

Hat tip to Marcus for the find!

Lamborghini Mystery Paris Show Car Striptease Continues with Teaser No3

Unless our eyes are playing games with us, Lamborghini's third consecutive teaser photo gives us a glimpse of the Paris motor show car's interior / dashboard, which like the rest of the vehicle, appears to make use of carbon fiber.

Given that the previous teaser shot previewed what looked to be a V10 engine, there's a good chance Lamborghini might show two vehicles in Paris, one being this model (quite possibly a concept for a lightweight supercar) and the other the successor to the Murcielago.

Stay tuned on Carscoop as we will be bringing you all the latest news from the Paris Motor Show.

Lamborghini Releases Paris Show Car Teaser No2 Plus Manifesto for Future Supercars

Lamborghini is continuing the striptease approach with its mystery Paris Show car by releasing the second teaser photo of the unnamed model. Our first guess is that the image previews the engine bay, which features 10 ports (V10 maybe?) and is covered in carbon fiber. Four more cropped pictures will follow until the official unveiling of the vehicle at the upcoming Paris Auto Show on September 30.

Along with teaser No2 of the show model, Lamborghini's President and CEO, Stephan Winkelman, outlined the firm's manifesto for future supercars, in which he talks about the significance of reducing weight through the use of new materials such as carbon fiber. That said, there's a possibility the Paris show car may be a conceptual exercise on a lightweight supercar.

Here's Lamborghini's Manifesto for future supersportscars:

Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini SpA:

"Lamborghini stands for extreme and uncompromising supersportscars of the best Italian tradition. Tradition as a value however, lives at Lamborghini alongside innovation.

We are redefining the future of our supersportscars around the two main reasons to buy: design and performance. Design has been and always will be reason number one, and we will make sure a Lamborghini will always be recognizable through its significant stylistic features.

Regarding performance, until few years ago priorities were, in this order: top speed, acceleration and handling. In recent years this has been changing. Together with design, handling and acceleration are becoming more important. Speed is not as important anymore, because all supersportscars are exceeding 300km/h (186 mph) and this is a speed that you cannot reach even on a racetrack, let alone normal roads. We think it is time to make a shift and talk more about handling and acceleration.

The key factor in terms of better handling and acceleration, meaning more immediate pleasure in driving, is the power-to-weight ratio. This is not so much about top speed and so the future will not be so focused on increasing the power, even because CO2 emissions do play a role for supersportscars too. That means the key is in reducing the weight.

A crucial part of this is to understand how to reduce the weight. From the middle of the Eighties, the average weight of our cars has increased by 500 kg because of active and passive safety, comfort and emissions reduction issues, and this is something that we have to change. Since we cannot reduce safety or comfort in our cars, we have to reduce the weight by using new materials.

The magic word for this is "carbon fiber". We started working with carbon fiber in Sant'Agata Bolognese over thirty years ago and today, with our two laboratories in Sant'Agata Bolognese and in Seattle, We are mastering a broad range of technologies which put us in a leadership position for low-volume production.

Every new Lamborghini will make the best use of carbon fiber to reduce weight."

Mystery Lamborghini Teased Ahead of 2010 Paris Motor Show

Lamborghini is using the same teasing method as it did with the 2008 Paris Show Estoque sports sedan concept to preview its new creation for this year's edition of the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile. The Italian supercar maker will publish a total of six teaser images of the mystery model before the official unveiling, with this cryptic picture being 'numero uno'. The photo is accompanied by a tagline that says, "Discover the way to the future of supersports cars."

So, what do you think Lamborghini is getting ready to present at the Paris Show; could it be the successor to the to the testosterone-boosting Murcielago, a concept model for a new addition to the range or something different altogether? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
