Tata Motors, India's leading car maker, has entered into a tie-up with the Open University of Uttarakhand on Monday. Under this tie-up, Tata Motors will train a student of the university from the field of automobiles, who will enroll for Certificate course for technical excellence. The company will provide training to these students at its facility in Pantnagar, as per a release issued by the university on this regard.
From Tata Motors' side the agreement was signed by Mr P K Chaube (Tata Motors Pantnagar plant head), the Registrar of University Dr B R Pant signed the agreement on behalf of Uttarakhand Open University. The course will be of six months duration in which students will be provided both theoretical as well as practical training. In the starting batch, Tata Motors will train about 600 students, which will enable them to work in any automobile company.
It is to be mentioned here that Tata Motors manufactures its most popular car Tata Nano at its facility in pantnagar, where the first lot of 50,000 Nano's was manufactured. Tata Motors Pantnagar has been declared the winner of National Energy Conservation Award 2009, 1st prize in Automobile Manufacturing category by Ministry of Power, Government of India.
